Will Smith: ‘We’re Definitely Doing Another ‘Bad Boys”
Will Smith has promised fans Bad Boys 3 will happen after meeting up with co-star Martin Lawrence for the first time in two years.
The Suicide Squad star has long voiced his interest in reuniting with Lawrence for another sequel in the hit action comedy franchise. In 2012, he revealed there still wasn’t a perfect script.
“I talked to Martin about that a couple of weeks ago,” Will said at the time. “Martin is into it. (We’ve) got a couple of screenplays, the story’s gotta be right.”
Lawrence gave fans an update in 2014, when he told late night show host Conan O’Brien: “I just spoke to (producer) Jerry Bruckheimer… and he said it’s real, they’re working on the script and they’re getting close. It all looks good.”
Now Smith claims they are another step closer to getting back together after rekindling his friendship with his old pal, more than 12 years after Bad Boys 2 was released in 2003.
“I saw Martin a few weeks ago,” the actor recently told BBC Radio 1.
“I haven’t seen him for about two years. We just looked at each other. We hugged. In that moment, we knew we were making another Bad Boys. We’re definitely doing another one,” he added.
The original Bad Boys film, which took place in Miami, Florida, was released in 1995.
Both films were directed by Michael Bay. It is not known if Bay will be directing the third installment of the film.
Currently, Bad Boys 3 is slated for release on February 17, 2017, and Bad Boys 4 is set for July 3, 2019.
