Scott Weiland’s The Wildabouts bandmate has been arrested for cocaine possession after the drug was discovered on the tour bus where the singer’s body was found.

The frontman, who had a history of substance abuse issues, died in his sleep on Thursday shortly before his group was set to perform in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Weiland’s wife of two years, Jamie, spoke out on Friday to silence speculation suggesting an addiction to crack cocaine had contributed to his passing, insisting he had been clean for some time, telling, “He was the best he has ever been.”

However, it has now emerged Weiland’s bassist Tommy Black was taken into custody for fifth degree felony possession of drugs after a police search of the bus uncovered a small quantity of cocaine in his living quarters, while another minor stash was discovered in the bedroom where the tragic singer’s body was found.

Meanwhile, Stone Temple Pilots members Robert DeLeo, Eric Kretz and Dean DeLeo have honored the memory of their late co-founder in a touching open letter.

In the message, posted online, the stars praise the 48-year-old’s talents, while also acknowledging the drug demons which led to his dismissal from the group in 2013.

They wrote:

“Let us start by saying thank you for sharing your life with us.

“Together we crafted a legacy of music that has given so many people happiness and great memories.

“We know amidst the good and the bad you struggled, time and time again. It’s what made you who you were. You were gifted beyond words, Scott. Part of that gift was part of your curse.

“With deep sorrow for you and your family, we are saddened to see you go. All of our love and respect. We will miss you brother.”

Tributes have also poured in on social media from the likes of Alice Cooper, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, Travis Barker, Joe Perry, and Weiland’s ex-Velvet Revolver bandmates Slash and Dave Kushner.
