Rap pioneers Run-D.M.C., Jefferson Airplane and Earth, Wind & Fire will be honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Grammys.

Late salsa great Celia Cruz, Herbie Hancock, Linda Ronstadt, and Ruth Brown will also be recipients of the achievement prize at the music ceremony next month.

Run-D.M.C. star Joseph ‘Reverend Run’ Simmons was quick to react to the news, tweeting, “I just got a call from the Grammys!! They shocked me!! We’re the first rappers to get this award!! Shocked! Grateful! God is good!!! I’m so honored to be a #GRAMMYs Lifetime Achievement Award recipient this year. Thank you to the Recording Academy!”
