Plans for the festival were officially announced in a post on Facebook, which linked to a website promoting Desert Trip.

The weekend will begin with Friday performances from the Rolling Stones and Dylan, while McCartney and Young will headline Saturday and Waters and The Who will close out the event on Sunday.

Tickets for the new festival, which go on sale Monday, will set fans back between from $399 and $1599, while single day passes will be available for $199 each.

Reports suggest each act could net as much as $7 million for participating in the event, staged by bosses at Goldenvoice and AEG Live, the companies behind the Coachella music festival.
