A power outage at Grand Central Terminal on Monday morning in New York City led to major delays for trains.

According to PIX 11, at around 9:30 a.m. a power outage occurred causing delays in the lower transit hub. Officials stated that the reason for the outage was water damaging one of its transformers. Outages on the upper level of the station had occurred intermittently earlier Monday.

Many passengers took to social media to post photos of the outage. Kala Rama of PIX 11 tweeted out a video of Grand Central being blacked out:

Witnesses also report that the train ticket machines were down as well.

Due to the President’s Day holiday, trains were running on a holiday schedule and ridership was lower than normal.
