Oprah Winfrey to lead A Wrinkle In Time adaptation

Oprah Winfrey is set to star in Disney’s upcoming adaptation of beloved fantasy novel A Wrinkle In Time.

The TV mogul and actress has been cast as Mrs. Which, the leader of the trio of mysterious women who send the teen protagonists on their tesseracting journeys through time and space.

The project will mark a reunion between Winfrey and Selma director Ava DuVernay, who will helm the project. The two also co-created and are executive producing TV series Queen Sugar for Winfrey’s TV network, OWN.

Oscar winner and Frozen writer Jennifer Lee has penned the adapted screenplay, while Amy Adams and Kevin Hart are among those in talks to also star in the film, according to Deadline.

A Wrinkle in Time was written by author Madeleine L’Engle and centers on a group of children who travel back in time to find their missing scientist father. The novel won the Newbery Medal in 1963.
