Jennifer Aniston doesn’t understand the attraction of social media.

The 47-year-old actress is one of just a handful of stars who have resisted creating accounts on sites such as Twitter and Instagram. And while her husband, Justin Theroux, regularly updates his fans through the medium of social media, Aniston won’t be following in his footsteps anytime soon.

“I think it’s (social media) really distracting,” Aniston told the Press Association. “The amount of time it takes people to probably post all of that stuff, it feels very time consuming. It’s just not my thing.”

Aniston was speaking to promote her new movie Mother’s Day, in which she stars alongside Jason Sudeikis.

The 40-year-old actor is a regular presence on the internet, and credits his fiancee Olivia Wilde, who hit headlines when she had an online feud with Justin Bieber after criticizing him for going shirtless during a night out, for helping change his views on social media.

“She’s good at it,” Sudeikis said of his partner’s messages online. “It’s not an all-day, every-day thing. She’s funny. She speaks about issues.”

“I would say she changed my personal opinion of it. I have nothing against it for other people. They can do whatever they want.”

“A photo with a comment? Easy. I can handle that. The effort doesn’t hurt my feelings. The content? Possibly. It’s just not my bag.”

Wilde has 1.7 million Twitter followers, while Sudeikis is a long way behind with just 46,500.

Mother’s Day is the latest offering from Pretty Woman director Garry Marshall, and features Aniston and Sudeikis as part of an all-star cast including Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson and Shay Mitchell.

It was the chance to work with Marshall though that first attracted Aniston to the movie.

“It was a fun ensemble, a great group of people involved and it was something fun to be a part of,” she added.
