Iconic Villain Christopher Lee Even In Death Lives On

He is gone but not forgotten. His legendary career (spanning almost 70 years) and his over-the-top menacingly evil characters will live on — both on screen and in our memories. Sir Christopher Lee passed away on June 7, 2015. He was 93.

This legendary actor brought the evil Sith Lord Count Dooku to life in Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005). StarWars.com describes his role as Count Dooku as the “dark-side mirror to the elder Obi-Wan Kenobi, who Lee infused with a captivating arrogance and mercilessness.” Indeed, Lee was a menacing presence at a towering  6’5″ with a powerful voice that could instill fear and foreboding.

His other roles are a who’s who of truly memorable characters. He played Saruman in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014), and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001).

But long, long, long before Star Wars and the Hobbit, Lee had scared us all as the evil bloodsucking vampire, Dracula in several films, including The Horror of Dracula (1958) and Count Dracula (1970).

Lee also starred as the monster in the The Mummy (1959) and as Francisco Scaramanga, James Bond’s evil nemesis, in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974).
