He also toured with some of the Windy City’s biggest names in hip-hop, such as Common, Fiasco and West, who all paid tribute to their late friend on social media.

West took to Twitter and wrote, “R.I.P. DJ TIMBUCK2. He was an amazing person and talent. My prayers go out to his family,” while Fiasco added, “RIP DJ Timbuktu. May Allah accept your good deeds.”

Common also added his condolences with a touching tribute on Instagram, writing, “Timbuktu one of the most talented and Gifted DJs EVER! His legend Is here and will be here. I got to know him as a DJ and a friend. I’ve had some of my best experiences listening to music out at a venue or club with him on the tables. I just wanna say that brother is special and will be missed. And will always be held in high regards. To his family and loved ones, I send my love and prayers. And to Chicago and abroad, we birthed and witnessed a Great One! GOD Bless His Soul. Love.”
