Guns N’ Roses to Play Two Coachella Warm Up Shows
Reunited rockers Guns N’ Roses are set to warm up for their headlining slot at California’s Coachella music festival by playing two preview shows in Las Vegas.
Frontman Axl Rose will hit the stage with guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan at Coachella in April, and now two concerts in Sin City have been lined up to help the trio perfect its classic sound.
The “Paradise City” stars will help to launch the new T-Mobile Arena by performing on the venue’s opening weekend on April 8 and 9, before heading to Coachella for shows on April 15 and 22.
The group announced the news on Facebook on Tuesday, sharing a 30-second video of the original trio together onstage.
“Welcome back to the jungle!” the caption read. “Guns N’ Roses returns to the stage opening weekend at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas April 8 & 9. Tickets go on-sale Saturday at 10am!”
It is still not clear who will complete the band’s ‘classic’ line-up for the big reunion gigs, which are rumored to be part of a full arena tour.
Keyboard player Chris Pitman, who joined Guns N’ Roses in 1998, previously hinted at his inclusion in the classic line-up in posts on Twitter, although he later confessed management officials had ordered past and present members to keep quiet about the reunion.
“I was just informed by mgmt to not acknowledge anything about coachella, gnr, etc,” he wrote. “So there, denied!”
He added, “When I said, ‘We are playing at Coachella,’ I meant me and my daughter like to play in the sand.”
Rose was booked to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this month, when fans thought he would reveal all the details about the reunion, but he cancelled his slot.
