Dax Shepard Had a Vasectomy Days After Pregnancy Scare
Dax Shepard got a vasectomy two days after his wife Kristen Bell had a pregnancy scare.
The actor, 41, was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday and revealed he opted for the ultra quick snip after Bell thought she was pregnant. Before it was confirmed either way, Shepard had made arrangements to have a vasectomy within two days.
After Kimmel asked the Parenthood actor if he wanted more children Shepard explained: “Last year, my wife was working in Atlanta (shooting The Boss with Melissa McCarthy). We were there and she all of a sudden goes, ‘Oh, my gosh! I’m so stupid. I’ve been sick for 10 days and ignoring it; I’m definitely pregnant.'”
“And I was like, ‘We’re going to turn into Jon & Kate Plus 8 or something. We already have no life! This is going to be not worth living.’ I freaked out. It was so bad,” he smiled.
He went on to explain that because the actress had to work she was unable to get a pregnancy test. And when he flew home for a meeting, he took drastic action.
The couple who married in 2013 already have two daughters Lincoln, three, and Delta, 17 months. But Shepard wasn’t keen to expand their brood.
“For eight hours I was like imagining my life with all these kids. That was Tuesday. I flew home Wednesday for a meeting. Thursday morning I had a vasectomy,” he laughed to Kimmel.
However, Shepard was relieved it turned out to be a pregnancy scare but by then the deed was already done.
“I had a vasectomy and Kristen was not thrilled that I did it so quickly,” he said. “But I’m a man of action, so I was in and out. I was back in Atlanta two days after that shooting a Samsung commercial.”
