Cindy Crawford has denied reports suggesting she’s planning a model retirement.

She hinted at life away from the catwalks and photoshoots during a recent interview with United Airlines magazine Hemispheres, stating that she would quit when she turns 50 later this month.

“I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore – and that’s OK,” Crawford told the publication. “I’ve done it. I’ve worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can’t keep reinventing myself. I shouldn’t have to keep proving myself. I don’t want to.”

But on Monday, she laughed off the article, insisting her retirement plans have become a “joke” in her family.

She took to her Instagram page to make herself clear, stating, “Every year, I tell my kids I’m retiring. It’s a running joke in our family. And yet every year, opportunities pop up that really excite me. While it’s true that I’m eager to shift my focus a bit to concentrate on my businesses, friends and family, I’m not making any final statements.”

“I have loved being part of the fashion industry for the past 30 years and if that time has taught me anything, it’s this: never say never,” she added.

Crawford became one of the world’s biggest supermodels in the 1980s and 1990s, appearing on runways around the world for the likes of Chanel and Valentino.

She is still very much in demand and recently joined fellow veterans Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell as one of the faces of French fashion house Balmain’s spring/summer 2016 campaign.
