Adele’s ’25’ Is iTunes’ Biggest Selling-Album Of 2015
Adele’s record-breaking 25 has been crowned iTunes’ best-selling album of 2015.
The British superstar’s comeback album was only released on November 20, but it easily topped charts around the world and smashed sales records in the U.K. and U.S., where it is expected to surpass the five million mark by the end of its third week on sale.
Now Apple bosses have named 25 the most popular album purchase on their iTunes streaming service, beating out rapper Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late to the title.
Taylor Swift’s Grammy-nominated 1989 places third, while the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack and Justin Bieber’s Purpose round out the top five, respectively.
Meanwhile, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ hit song “Uptown Funk” is the year’s biggest-selling iTunes single, besting Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again.”
Maroon 5’s “Sugar” and Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” close out the end-of-year poll’s top five, while Adele’s “Hello” just misses out at six.
